For those who like adventure tourism and adrenaline, there are several possibilities to enjoy adventure tourism in the surroundings.
Hiking
Various hiking routes start in Cómpeta to get to know the Natural Park of Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. These 8 routes have different levels of difficulty and duration ranging from one hour to six hours.
The ascent route of La Maroma (2,080 metres) also begins very close to us, the highest peak in the province of Málaga and known as the roof of Málaga, with impressive views of the surrounding mountains as well as the coast.
In the nearby village of Canillas del Aceituno, you will find the famous hiking trail El Saltillo, known as the Caminito del Rey of La Axarquía.
And speaking about Caminito del Rey, this hiking route is also just under two hours away by car.
A bit closer, approximately an hour and a quarter away, you will find El Torcal de Antequera, an unique place in Andalusia with very curious rock formations.
Moreover, in the surroundings of Cómpeta, you can also find several "aquatic hiking routes" in which the route follows the course of the river (recommended only in Spring and Summer).
Others
In addition to hiking, it is possible to do different activities in the area such as cycling, 4x4 routes, canyoning and kayaking.
Finally, we have to mention that Sierra Nevada, with more than 100 kilometers of ski slopes, is only one hour and a half from Cómpeta. It is another possibility in the area for those who are passionate about skiing. The highest track is located in La Veleta, at 3398 meters above sea level, the highest peak of the entire Iberian Peninsula.
